-After we're done seeing stars we'll find a beach like the one near the Maritime museum that is relatively secluded and have a BBQ. I have a propane BBQ and two tanks of fuel....

It's BYO(*.*) & everyone is invited.

Remember Humans...The best time to view the Cosmos is by the dark of the moon.

Cancellation is only if the sky is completely overcast. Patchy clouds don't seem to perturb the volunteers at the Telescope. If there is a cancellation then the event will move to Saturday 01 Nov 2008 but hopefully we'll have Deep Blue Skies...YYyyyummmmmmmmmmm!

Beginning and ending at Trout Lake, the family-friendly ride will follow a 20 km bicycle route to Stanley Park, and back to Trout Lake for refreshments and celebration. Come out and join us for a good ride, good food, good music, good people and a good cause!

Every $200 raised during the bike-a-thon will allow CAP AIDS to provide a bicycle to an HIV and AIDS outreach worker in Africa – allowing them to reach up to 5 times as many people.

PEDAL POTLUCK PICNIC
TUES JULY 22
6:30PM
MEET AT GAZEBO BY SCIENCE WORLD
(near intersection of Quebec and Terminal)

The Pedal Potluck Picnic is a casual bicycle ride traversing approx.
5-8 kilometres. The end destination is a mystery park or park-like
setting. The term "park" will be used liberally here, so expect the
unexpected! At the endpoint we'll enjoy a picnic dinner. Eating will
be potluck style, so please bring food and drink to share (preferably
vegetarian/vegan). Please also try to bring your own silverware,
plate, and cup. We will also stop at a grocery store along the way.

NOTE: RIDE IS NOT A LOOP.  It's a good idea to bring lights since we
could be out after dark!

nowtopia cover

Nowtopia is a book about a new politics of work.

It profiles
tinkerers, inventors, and improvisational spirits who bring an
artistic approach
to important tasks that are ignored or undervalued
by market society.

Rooted in practices that have been emerging over
the past few decades,

Nowtopia's exploration of work locates an
important thread of self-emancipatory
class politics beyond the
traditional arena of wage-labor.
